One possible reason is that there has been a long time issue of sellers resealing cartridges in knock-off cases and sell them off as new. Despite few people bought genuine copies (especially true before the 3DS era), the franchise has a high popularity in the region. More people are probably fans of FE titles on the GBA than Mario.
