Nintendo registered "马力欧网球 王牌"(Mario Tennis Aces) in China.

It's widely believed that the western release of Pokémon Black and Pokémon White are playable on any Nintendo DSi or 3DS, regardless of region.
This, however, is false as those games do not run in the "China" region and are thus unplayable on an iQue DSi or an iQue 3DSXL.
Replying to @chinesenintendo
It's also interesting how the "Taiwan" region was encoded in foresight, as the first Taiwan region Nintendo handheld did not exist until the Nintendo 3DS/XL was released in Hong Kong and Taiwan in 2012.

The Traditional Chinese release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 Gold Edition contains a full, unused Simplified Chinese translation.
However, all instances of "Mario" in the DLC levels are incorrectly translated using the Hong Kong/Taiwan name, as they were inaccessible to SC players.
Replying to @chinesenintendo
Why are the inaccessible? Simple. The iQue 3DSXL does not feature a Nintendo eShop, so this bars purchasing any DLC.
I'm unable to provide an image right now, but the electronic manual for the SC release axed the DLC section entirely.

Some Nintendo 3DS cartridges released in Hong Kong and Taiwan are playable in Simplified Chinese on an iQue 3DSXL.
Read the rectangles near the rating, on the spine, and on the back to check iQue 3DSXL compatibility. "繁體中文" => not compatible while "中文" ones are compatible.
Replying to @chinesenintendo
"繁體中文" means "Traditional Chinese" (only) and "中文" means "Chinese" (Both S and T).
In this case OOT3D(TW) is iQue compatible while MK7(TW) is not.
It's very possible that Nintendo put Simplified Chinese in HK/TW releases to bypass China's lengthy and risky game approval.
The package of Super Mario 3D Land in Hong Kong and Taiwan show a rating of 6+ in CGSRR ratings.
However, the internal cartridge data shows that the game is considered to have a 0+ rating when it comes to parental controls age restriction.
Replying to @chinesenintendo
According to the rating guideline of CGSRR, P (6+) rating is needed for "fighting of cute characters" (Possibly equivalent to "Mild Cartoon Violence" in ESRB), which does exist frequently in SM3DL. Thus, the 0+ rating in cartridge data could be a programming oversight.

From what I know, Switch games will launch their default language when the current system menu language is not available. For Nintendo games that are identical worldwide, the default is usually English.
Replying to @SpottyGaming
... it's kind of hard to explain, but there seems to be quite a number of inconsistencies with favoring English/Japanese between the marketing and back end.
Replying to @SpottyGaming
For instance, prior to the official Chinese system menu in 7.0.0, Nintendo HK used the Jp system menu for customer support.
However, Nintendo introduced the "T. Chinese (English)" system language in 4.0.0, so those who wish to play games in Chinese will be using an En sys menu.
